Roasting on Tuesdays
We roast in small batches behind the bar on Rosewood Lane, pull it within two days, and serve it next to pastries that come out of the oven at seven. No rush, no fuss.

“A cafe should feel like someone’s kitchen.”

Our story
Ember & Oak started as a single cart under an awning in 2014. The cart is still parked out front on Saturdays — now it’s attached to a room with twenty seats, a stack of well-worn paperbacks, and a roaster that never quite cools down.
We buy from four producers and visit each harvest. Names on the bag, prices on the wall.
A 12kg drum roaster runs every Tuesday. If you come by early you can smell it from the corner.
Every barista spends six weeks on bar before pulling a shot for you. It shows in the cup.
Take a bag home
Bagged the morning after roast day. Whole bean by default — tell us your brewer and we’ll grind it at the counter.

I've written most of a dissertation at the window table. Nobody has ever asked me to leave.

The Kirinyaga is the only bag that made my partner admit light roast isn't just sour water.

Corner of Rosewood and Bell, two blocks from the Fifth Street stop. Bike rack out front, dogs welcome, twenty seats and one very slow ceiling fan.
One short email a month: what we roasted, what’s good, when the cardamom buns are back.
Kitchen stops at 14:00 daily. We close for the first week of January — that’s when the roaster gets its service.
